Contact Find - Address book access

You may have heard about the iPhone address book access disaster.

Just to make sure: My Contact Find needs to read all of your address book data in order to search it. But it never ever sends that data anywhere. The contacts data stays inside the app and can't be read by anybody else (thanks to the iPhone sandbox environment).

Contact Find: Version 1.1.1 is out

The new version 1.1.1 of my Contact Find application is available in the App Store now.

It fixes the annoying bug of version 1.1 that results for phones, emails and addresses didn't show up when you did a search all.

Compared to the old 1.0 version it adds several long awaited features:

• Much faster startup because the contacts only have to be imported once and are cahced afterwards


• Faster search


• Search for several keywords. It finds the contacts which contain all of them


• Explicit search for job, department and company field


• Newlines in the notes field are preserved

Today I submitted the new version 1.1 of my Contact Find application which is available in the App Store.

As promised the new version of Contact Find is available in the App Store. It fixes the crashes which a few users experienced on application startup. In addition (as you can see in the screenshot) I increased the fonts in the search box a little bit to make it easier to use.

Yes, you can. Please see the screenshot. Contact Find makes it easy to find all your contacts with any phrase somewhere in the notes field.

Contact Find: Crash fixed

I uploaded a new version of Contact Find to Apple which should be available in the App Store soon. It fixes the crashes which a few users experienced on application startup. Thanks for your patience.

In addition (as you can see in the screenshot) I increased the fonts in the search box a little bit to make it easier to use.

Now I work on the next version which will remove the long delay of the startup phase. The import of the contacts will only have to be done once and then it will be cached. I still have a few seats left for a beta test, please let me know if you want to take part.

Contact Find Update 1.0.1

The update for Contact Find is out. Unfortunately I still receive reports about crashes from a few customers but it resolved the problem for others. I started a beta programm to test the new version before I upload it to Apple. In case bought the application and experience the crash yourself please let me know. So far tt looks like it happens for contacts which have been synchronized via Exchange server from Windows.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I get a few reports that my new Contact Find application crashes on some iPhones in the startup phase. A new version (1.0.1) which fixes the bug has already been submitted to the Apple App Store and should be available soon.

What caused the problem? The application crashes if there are special characters (quotes, double quotes, new lines, tabulators) in an email or phone field of a contact (all other fields including notes are fine). Actually these characters don't belong in these fields but they might have been imported from your desktop address book.

New: Contact Find in the iPhone App Store

Contact Find adds the missing full search to the contacts in your address book. Don't just search for first and last names, but find your contacts by their phone number, area code, email address, city, street and so on. This includes full text search in the notes field of each contact.
